Charlie Chaplin's "The Vagabond"
Charlie Chaplins 53rd Film Released July 10 1916
The Vagabond was a silent film by Charlie Chaplin and his third film with Mutual Films. Released in 1916, it co-starred Edna Purviance, Eric Campbell, Leo White and Lloyd Bacon. This film echoed Chaplin's work on The Tramp, with more drama mixed in with comedy. The story begins with Charlie, playing music to raise money, and instead finds the abused girl (played by Edna) living in a gypsy camp. As in The Tramp, he works on finding a way to help her.

"A versão deste filme de Chaplin está 'brecando' em pequenos intervalos consecutivos, o que desestimula assistí-lo."

The music is all wrong. What's playing is a kind of music that didn't exist when this movie was made. In style, tempo, and sound, it's completely wrong for this film.

The missing last four minutes of this great movie is mistakenly mixed with another CC movie titled just Charlie Chaplin; available in this archive.
It will simply continue play after the end of the main movie.
Now that I have seen the Vagabond in full I think it deserves the full mark.
And no. The ending is different and better from what I previously guessed.

The Vagabond has all of the essential silent era Chaplin elements. At the time, it was his most ambitious film yet and while he would go on to exceed it many times over, this is still an excellent example of "mid-silent era" Chaplin. You won't be disappointed.
